Being near the TV stations, you'd have more reason to complain than I do, but I get cranky about the helicopter that flies over my house in Brisbane between 9:30pm and 10:30pm most nights. I've never figured out what it's doing.Judy Websterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09730547717403140047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-347876523701731395.post-5219370575153991972022-01-28T09:14:57.776+10:002022-01-28T09:14:57.776+10:00Dear Judy - helicopters certainly signal that some...Dear Judy - helicopters certainly signal that something is wrong don't they? We live very close to Mt Coot-tha and during the floods in Brisbane the choppers seemed to be going all day from the tv stations. Your experience in Brixton sounds similar but more scary with the smell of burning rubber. I don't know whats more scary....the silence of flooding (you know something is happening but it's so quiet) or the noise of looters. I suspect the latter.Alex Dawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083753053051713061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-347876523701731395.post-12194205908300262332022-01-24T11:31:28.993+10:002022-01-24T11:31:28.993+10:00How interesting about the connection to the San Fr...How interesting about the connection to the San Francisco earthquake. Yes, I've wasted a bit of money on English death certificates that didn't help - but on several other occasions they've shown that I'm researching the correct family. It has usually been because of an occupation that's fairly distinctive, or 'widow of Whomever' plus his occupation. Despite their succinctness (is that even a word??) I have lots of tabs open. Thank you for mentioning the Freedom of the City Admission papers. You've reminded me to follow up something with San Francisco. My great-grandfather was meant to be given freedom of the city there for having helped re-build the city after the earthquake. In 'Posts, comments and sharing', you will see the options 'Comment moderation' and 'Show word verification'. Click the question mark beside them to see explanations. If you set 'Show word verification' to YES, it may reduce the spam but it won't stop it completely, and it may annoy some 'genuine' people who want to comment. The most important thing is to set 'Comment moderation' to ALWAYS and enter your email address. When someone comments, you will receive an email allowing you to either publish the comment, or delete it before it can appear on your blog. If there is a particular post that keeps getting lots of spam (and if you can live without getting genuine comments on it), go to 'Post settings' then 'Options', and select 'Don't allow, show existing'.Judy Websterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09730547717403140047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-347876523701731395.post-84693246968861393162017-01-13T10:00:51.382+10:002017-01-13T10:00:51.382+10:00Thank you, Chris - I appreciate that.Thank you, Chris - I appreciate that.Judy Websterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09730547717403140047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-347876523701731395.post-71898289224035134892017-01-13T08:09:57.123+10:002017-01-13T08:09:57.123+10:00I have included your blog in INTERESTING BLOGS on ...I have included your blog in INTERESTING BLOGS on Friday Fossicking at

http://thatmomentintime-crissouli.blogspot.com.au/2017/01/friday-fossicking-13th-jan-2017.html

Thank you, Chris
Crissoulihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10148084999701286044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-347876523701731395.post-45788307856331844402017-01-07T18:57:18.272+10:002017-01-07T18:57:18.272+10:00My pleasure, Pauleen. I suggest that you research all the siblings of your ancestors who were alive in the 1700s (especially any who were in England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany or Poland), and then trace all the descendants of those siblings. I'm currently working on side branches of my tree too. I don't have much time for my own research, and I have a tendency to jump from one family line to another as the whim takes me, instead of following a proper research plan.
